STUDIO 251 is a full service bespoke interior design studio created by Tara Kates located in Ridgefield, CT.   Our designs reflect classical ideals with a modern edge allowing for clean lines, comfortable and livable spaces with a unique perspective tailored to each clients individual needs. 

Tara Kates grew up in New York City where she used to accompany her aunt to the D&D building as a child and was in awe of all the fabrics and furniture she saw there. Creative from the beginning, she started her career in Television Production in Los Angeles where she worked on a hit NBC show and in movies, when she realized her passion was interior design. From there she attended the UCLA interior design program and moved back to NYC upon comepletion. She feels extremely lucky to have worked for incredible design firms - all of which have been listed in the AD 100 - Architectural Digest’s 100 top design firms listing.

From the entire house to the single room STUDIO 251 has projects in New York City, the Hamptons, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Hawaii, Florida and St. Louis.
